UHP will be holding 3 Diabetic Clinics this term on Saturdays, in March and April, and we will be in need of some lovely volunteers to help out! These clinics hold tremendous value in the community — diabetes has a large prevalence in Grenada, but most patients are unable to manage their disease properly due to a lack of access to healthcare. As such, the clinic serves as a source of primary care for many of these patients.
You will have the opportunity to experience patient encounters where many of them will view and treat you as their doctors. You will take full medical histories and perform all relevant physical examinations on your own (including blood pressure, blood glucose, cardiovascular, foot checks and any other necessary exams). Volunteer physicians will be available for further patient consultation. Priority is typically given to Term 4 and 5 students but Term 2 will be allowed when space permits!
Professional attire including white coat are required. Full PD kits (please bring gloves) are also required.
Signups will opened on Wednesday, March 7th at noon. This clinic has been filled. Thank you so much for your interest.
Priority is mainly first come first served with some preference for Terms 4 and 5.
